PUB MEETING

Tuesday 6th October

THE MAYPOLE P.H - BORDEN

The Street, Borden ME9 8JN

As it had been almost a full year since the Sittingbourne guys had a meeting in their area, we picked the The Maypole which has GASS written all over it.

Lovely little country pub, lovely landlady called Lesley, who is also a master pie-maker.

So it's was a PIE NIGHT!

Hand made short crust pies, and vegetables from her very own garden.

PROGRAMME

Test your strength on a fairground machine.

PIE time - we choose from the great menu below:-

STEAK & KIDNEY  -  CHICKEN, LEEK & GAMMON  -  STEAK & GUINNESS  -  VEGETABLE PIE  -  VENISON, PIGEON & RABBIT (may contain shot)

We also went outside to try our strength in traditional circus fashion.  Outside being the operative term.

As in outside in the pitch black and the pissing rain because the daft suppliers failed to mention when booking an INSIDE entertainment, that the inside 'Strike it High' machine was almost 100 feet high.

Unless they thought we were holding the meeting in a Cathedral, which to be honest was not what the address 'The Maypole Pub' suggested, then how the hell we were going to get in inside I don't know!

Any road up, the insistent and heavy rain certainly took the edge off the competition, oh! and the fact it as dark as a coal cellar did not help either.

On the bright side the pies were bloody brilliant!

Good pub meeting.

DISCUSSION ON MEETINGS FOR 2015/16

As explained elsewhere we did not really achieve much on a meetings programme at the AGM, but we did have some good suggestions.

The point of the October PUB meeting was to approve or amend this outline meetings programme which you can see here - meetings programme

It was also to take early suggestions for next years AGM.

The decisions of the meeting went something like this:-

1.  Keith proposed either Norway of Cyprus for the AGM 2016.  He asked people to mull it over and give him a steer on preference.

2.  With regard to the years programme nobody seemed to care much one way or another as long as we have fun.

3.  With regard to Christmas, Nick made a suggestion that we go to The Roffen with wives, but that there be a separate GASS meeting in December.

There was some discussion that in the very busy month of December it might be difficult to fit in two meetings ..... when everyone was bounced into a vote.... which was strongly in favour of one meeting at The Roffen.

Based on these decisions, and/or lack of decisions, we will run with the programme as it is unless anything better comes along.
