JUNE MEETING
THE GREAT GASS BOAT RACE Teston Lock to East Farleigh
TEN SEAHAWK DINGHIES SET SAIL ON THE MEDWAY GASS purchased 10 of these excellent inflatable dinghies featured above in preparation for the big race.
WE MET IN THE VICTORY PUB EAST FARLEIGH WE TOOK TO THE WATER AT TESTON WE RACED FOR HOURS! I COUNTED THEM ALL OUT - AND I COUNTED THEM ALL IN AGAIN WE RETURNED TO THE VICTORY - VICTORIOUS!
It was a hell of a race, down to the wire, a competition between titans - The top two teams were a 6'2" fit bricklayer and a farmer/gardener who works physically every day, rowing against a desk-bound accountant and a 70 year old who has not even run for a bus since 1970.
AND GUESS WHO WON?
Yup - the bookkeeper and the septuagenarian ......
GO FIGURE!
Sadly, there was a technical issue at the finish when the bookie and the oldie forgot to carry their oars over the finish line, shame! Therefore the amazing win was overturned by the appeal committee and they declared Nick Jenkins and John Brice the winners.
A small video should explain things
And a few snaps courtesy of Don
Sailing off into the evening sun - beautiful!
Capn' Blackheart and Uncle Albert prepare to set sail - 20 minutes after the actual race departed
The winners and the runners-up - you choose which is which.
A great race, and a lovely dinner afterwards.
