AGM 2015

BENIDORM - SPAIN

Following some two years of non-stop promotion by Hew Edilodoloodaloo during which he bad-mouthed Las Vegas, New York, Shanghai, St Tropez
and many other locations suggested for our annual bean feast, all in favour of that jewel in the Spanish crown - Benidorm, we are finally going there.

A decision that proved to be much to the chagrin of several of our more senior (and may I say - wealthier) members.
Despite a threat of a walk-out by the Jenkins faction (soon scotched by the Smith faction once he realised he would have to make his own arrangements), we are on our way to heaven!

To be precise we are off to a venue our travel agents describe thus:-

"If it was me, I would stay in the 4* Melia Benidorm every time, as good as a 5*, probably the best hotel in Benidorm.

Which is a result as there was a suggestion that we stayed in the Hotel Solana, where the TV series Benidorm was filmed. 
What a jolly jape that would have been!!!!  P.S:  The comedy 'Benidorm' is currently showing its new series on ITV and is hilarious, do NOT miss it!

Our organiser for 2015 is Mr Keith Evans.  Keith is from the Mike Saffery school of organisation.
The "tell them where, when and how much, that's all they need to know!" approach.
After years of my conciliatory, collegiate, comradely attempts to create a cohesive and cooperatively agreed programme for the AGM,
please look forward to a welcome change of pace.  There will be entertainment and things will happen.  Just turn up!

METHOD OF PAYMENT

Payment of a £50 per head deposit has been made by GASS (Keith)  to hold the hotel.
Full payment for the hotel is due by the end of June.

A payment of £35 per head deposit has been made by GASS (Keith) to hold the flights.
Full payment needs to be made by mid August.

May I suggest that GASS members fund their AGM as follows:-

Pay the full amount at the JUNE meeting.

OR

Pay your bill less £200 at the JUNE meeting and the £200 balance at the AUGUST meeting.
Payment will be to GASS this year as GASS will have funded the deposits.

"GASS BIKERS"

At the recent Annual Ball generously thrown by a local plant hire company, the name we are not allowed to mention in this website, lest creditors of said company get wind of what the Chairman gets up to in his spare time, there was a discussion about one option for fun on the AGM, the hiring and riding of some Harley Davidson Motor Bikes for a day.  Owen kindly researched the idea and found a company that would hire us six bikes for the day. 

The potential riders are Owen, Gary, Steve, Phil C, Graham, and Andy (plus Chris and Stuart may even fly out for the event).  Plus pillions Brian, Nick and anyone else up for it.

The idea has since been developed into the following suggestion:-

THE AGM DAY OUT - MONDAY 8th

As a great day out for all (before the short term group fly back) we hire six Harley's and four or five 2 seat Buggies and go out for a days cruising.

This means that everyone gets to drive something fun.

Drive up the spectacular route to the top of Mount Tiede, the active Volcano,  then back down to the coast for lunch, then home to cruise and pose round town.

AGM 2014 THEME - GASS BIKERS

Dress - Biker gear, with hand made GASS ANGELS jackets, plus bandanas, beards, wigs, hats boots, the works.

Everyone buys a sleeveless denim/leather jacket and decorates it in Hells Angels fashion, plus individual choice of biker hats, bandanas etc.

Prize for the best decorated jacket with the most piss stains.

PROGRAMME

MONDAY - MAIN CRUISE AND AGM DINNER

In the morning pick up the vehicles, group photos, drive up to the Volcano (a spectacular drive and well worth it), light lunch, drive back a different route,

The onto the main drag to cruise up and down posing the hell out of it for a laugh, then drop the vehicles,

and immediately on for drinks in GASS ANGELS gear, and straight into the AGM dinner.

Out on the town to smash it up, in a nice way.

TUESDAY - SECOND CRUISE

This time we hire mobility scooters or little scooters or kids bikes, and repeat the cruise in town.

JACKET DECORATION

Nick did request that Brian buy 17 jackets but this was voted down. 

Everyone buy their own and decorate them in your own style as part of the fun.

Follow these simple steps:-

1.  BUY A DENIM BLUE OR BLACK JACKET - Google Mens Denim Jackets, there are loads for £25.

Might be best long sleeved for riding protection and warmth, it gets cold at the top of the Volcano.

2.  DECIDE WHAT NICKNAME YOU WANT ON THE LOWER HALF CIRCLE

Brian will print what you want and mail you out the half circles as iron-on transfers, you just iron them on!

He will also send you the GASS logo and a GASS TENERIFE logo, both iron on.

3.  DECIDE ON YOUR CENTRAL LOGO

The choice there is buy a large woven patch from one of the websites suggested below - gives the best quality.

OR - find a JPEG (picture) of a logo you like on the web and email it to Brian for printing as an iron-on.

4.  BUY ADD-ONS FOR YOUR TOTAL LOOK
